The Anne E Borghesani Community Fund

Established in Memory of Anne Elizabeth Borghesani

Dedicated to reducing violence by promoting development of healthy children and families and to providing scholarships that encourage personal growth through community involvement.

This fund is a non-profit, voluntary organization dedicated to reducing the incidence and effects of violence by promoting development of healthy children and families and to providing scholarships that encourage personal growth through community involvement.

Our goal is to closely partner with selected organizations whose efforts reduce violence and to provide seed money which can truly make a difference to the person or program. We have awarded grants to several organizations.

Mission Statement

- To support outreach programs for programs for children, families, and communities that promote healthy development and prevent violence
- To support outreach programs to victims of violence, and to promote public awareness of the multiple effects of violence upon society; and
- To support the continued development of Anne's Memorial Scholarships at Tufts University and Lexington High School

Background

In March, 1990 Anne was brutally murdered by a stranger as she walked from her apartment to the Metro In Arlington, Virginia. She was planning to meet friends to celebrate her 23rd birthday. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of Anne’s death, her friends and family gathered at a Celebration of Hope at the Museum of Our National Heritage on April 8, 2000 to have a community celebration to honor Anne’s life and legacy. From this event was born “In Anne’s Spirit”.
